About Us: Pennsylvania’s High Caffeine Coffee Bean Roaster

Pennsylvania's High Caffeine Coffee Bean Small Batch Roaster

We’re Pennsylvania’s high caffeine coffee bean small-batch roaster.  We small batch-roast in Coatesville, Pennsylvania and our coffee beans are from Brazil and India.  Brazil provides the rich soil and the hot humid climate that coffee plants thrive in. The low altitude fields of Brazil helps produce both arabica and robusta beans, but the crop is primarily arabica, mostly dry-processed. Towards the northern part of Brazil, where the terrain is flatter and the climate is hotter, shaded from the more direct rays of the sun, is where the robusta is grown. The best Brazilian coffees have a relatively low acidity, and exhibits a nutty sweet flavor, often bittersweet with a chocolatey roast taste that makes for a great blend foundation.   We also import coffee beans from India.  A good India coffee exhibits characteristics similar to Indonesian coffees, particularly Java Arabica including a full body yet with an acidity more in line with a good Guatemala Coffee. The spicy flavors of a fine India coffee may include notes of cardamom, clove, pepper and nutmeg and perhaps hints of tropical fruit.

KillaCaffeine was born out of a love of coffee, tea and all things caffeine. After searching for a delicious coffee with more “get up and go” than your average cup, I set out to make my own blend and that’s how KillaCaffeine was born. A simple love of taste and quality can go a long way.

Our coffee beans are both Free Trade certified, and USDA Organic certified and we’re committed to providing the best coffee and making sure the producers we source from are fairly compensated for their efforts.  Responsible Sourcing is an integral aspect of our business. Analyzing the conditions where our coffee is grown and processed, and working hand-in-hand with farmers to make improvements over time, is increasingly of interest to KillaCoffee.

The certification of organic coffee follows the bean from farm to cup. In order to label their yield as organic, all farms must meet a stringent criteria for organic production which audits everything from mulching techniques, soil quality, pest management and water conservation to processing and transportation. With the added costs of organic cultivation techniques comes an increased premium for the beans on the open market. The extra cost paid by KillaCoffee and that of our customers supports products that aim to achieve great quality without sacrifice to the land, the workers or the fauna.

USDA ORGANIC CERTIFIED:  Regulates growing methods by prohibiting GMO seeds and prohibits the use of synthetic chemicals used in agriculture. Organic standards are verified during production, as well as the roasting, processing and handling of all Organic Certified Coffees.

FAIR TRADE CERTIFIED:  Is a global certification that uses traceability to get farmer higher wages allowing them to hold onto their farms and invest in quality. These premiums are then used by the cooperatives and farmers as needed for equipment, tools, and other items that are used on a daily basis. It puts farmers in direct contact with importers and roasters which creates long-term sustainability.
